Oh god, I just had an idea. Cybercookies for whoever does it first.
THE TASK/MINI-CONTEST:
Find an scan of a skinny kid in a bathing suit. Vector it. Next, find a Darth
Vader pic that would fit the pose (angle of helmet being the key). Vector that
helmet onto the kid's body. Now, add some other Star Wars elements into the
scene (such as a Death Star volly ball, lightsabers, etc.), and ya got yourself
some win! I'd call dibs on it, but I'm much too busy with more pressing
matters.
REWARD: I'll.... uhhh.... make ya something.... if anyone even wants that
reward... >.>
BETTER yet, you just get to feel proud in creating something so awesome.

Wow, I missed a lot I love
the Halloween idea! I've been working on a Spooky wallpaper that was meant for
Halloween last year that I still haven't finished I think Dev has a point about the cutesy Halloween wallpapers... They're
nice, but it would be cool if more people would go freaky with their walls in
October.
On another note- Maybe it's just me, but I'd be freaked out if I saw a Sith Lord
at the beach o_o
I don't see why blood couldn't count. But unlike our last contest, blood doesn't
have to be included in the wallie. Afterall, things don't have to be bloodie to
be scary. Also, I don't know how clear I was, but I don't just mean something
spooky like a ghost. When I meant spooky, I really meant horror. Like something
that'll probably scare the living daylights out of someone.
Yeah, start it in the begining of September. That's be more than enough
time.
I was talking to Ori-chan about a contest a while ago, and she made a good
point. Give people too much time, and they are likely to forget or become bored
with the theme. I think that's happened to Celestial-Luminesse's contest. I
haven't seen any entries. But that could be because some people just start
Summer break so they haven't done enough to make a wallpaper.
I agree with Dev...I started making a spooky wall just now...it will be perfect
for Halloween mood
But I still it's too early for a contest like that...it's July...so maybe some
kind of Summer wall would suit better...But I don't know what since we're a
"Dark" walls group, and sunbathing and beach is not our style...
we're all Sith lords lol
I'm thinking we should have a contest that ends on Halloween. We are
Dark-Wallies after all. The question is when would we start it?
For a theme, I'm thinking it should be this: Create the Spookiest Wallpaper
Imaginable.
And I mean spooky, people! Last Halloween I was dissapointed with how little
spooky stuff their was. It was just a bunch of cute girls in Halloween
costumes.
So, our goal would be to give everyone nightmares! >:0
I think it'd be a nice alternative to the usual stuff. :3
god it seems i missed so much! so sorry guys! ive been dead for a while, i mean
i m not feeling well
i agree with you guys, but im whole-scan-vectorer after all. and i like to do
that, also i agree with popularity thingie...
and what contest?
do you want another contest already? if you want, speak your ideas
I don't think it's a crime to vector something, straight, I just think people
have lost touch with why it became so big in the first place. Like Pande said,
it was great for fixing low quality scans (or ones covered in text) and just
upping overall quality. It also made it a great way to implement textures and
such. But it seems like people are using it more so at times like a ticket to
popularity I know this isn't true in every case, but it would be nice to see
more variety, like altering the vectors in some way if the scan they used was
already excellent quality. It promotes a phrase we were always told at my school
called "thinking outside the box", as in exercising creativity instead
of writing (or in this case vectoring) like a machine. But I guess it might be
my personal taste more than anything.
I just want to see vectors in different styles. If you take a look at my
gallery, for example, I don't have many "normal" vectors (talking
about that ones that have just been traced over and colored to look exactly like the scan). I hate to say that I'm
working on one now, but it's for Aniwood and I was desperate.
@Temari: I added you as an affiliate as well
Thank you for the affiliation!
@Christabel: I guess it was more than 2 years ago... Gosh, I can't believe it's
been so long! I feel as though I've been walling for a week or two It's a good thing Yoru got you interested in walling, you're a great artist
@Raindrop: I suppose vectoring is slowly taking over MT... Maybe because the
famous artists became, well, famous partially thanks to it, newbies started
learning it too. Sure, some vectors are awesome but most are basic (which
include mine )... It would be better if people vectored low-quality stuff, what's
the point in vectoring something that's already high-quality?
Welcome back, temari-chan! Just dive in to whatever is going on.
@christabel92: MMORPGS are best played with people you know (especially if they
are goofy). I have own a copy of Guild Wars: Prophecies, and I can't bring
myself to play it by myself because I get bored. But then I found when I played
it with my brother and some of my cousins it was significantly more fun,
especially if we had our computers set up in the same room while playing (yup...
we're pretty nerdy). I've actually heard the opposite: that Guild Wars and WoW
aren't that similar (most people that I know that played WoW have abandoned it
by now for other games, like Guild Wars). I guess if you don't like MMORPGS they
all "look the same", but when you're nerdy to the extreme like my
family, you notice a big difference... But since I haven't played WoW myself I
don't really know in that case.
Sorry, I'll get back on topic now!
I started using Photoshop probably when I was in 9th grade, but started off with
GIMP. It's a nice little program if you can be patient enough to learn how to
use it, and it's free! I think by now they've released patches to fix the
crashing problems it had back when I used it I had
been using copies of Adobe Photoshop & Elements that were actually my dad's
for a long time. Unfortunately, Elements didn't even have the pen tool (and
that's what I was stuck with the longest), but it was pretty good for photo
manipulation. Back in the fall my cousin and I split the cost of Adobe Design
Standard CS3, so I finally have my own, good copies of photoshop and illustrator
to play with!
@dementia: I've been feeling like vectoring has over-run everything lately.
Don't get me wrong, I love vectoring as well, but I feel like people think that
if it's not vectored then it's no longer good enough. I love photo manipulation
too, and it makes me sad that people don't do it as much anymore.
I found that having learned how to use the pen tool I'm not as impressed as I
used to be over most straight vectored scans (especially when they are only
slightly modified to fit a wallpaper size), the ones where all people do is
vector the scan without adding their own touch to it. It just seems like it
takes a lot less creativity to do it that way... Though I am impressed by the
ones with crazy details like what Sinever generally does. Her patience blows me
away
I only have Paint shop pro X, b/c I can't afford photoshop or Illustrator..Is
the vectoring any different between them?
I wish sometimes I did have photoshop b/c you get better brushes, and everything
is geared towards it. It also has more abilities..I started vectoring b/c
apparently that is the only way to get noticed, but I still like to do photo
manip. my first vecotor I did not finsh. I vectored a scan from Loveless. I
couldn't extract it well, so I vectored it (with the help of Mapleroses tut) but
I gave up with his hair.
Hehe, contest results are in! neato! o:
Now we could start planning out another contest for the future. I have one in
mind....
I.... don't used Photoshop. Nope, not ever. Well, that's not true because I use
it to get color codes when I'm making website layouts and such. I use my own
CRAPPY program. And I started vectoring 6 months ago because.... I thought it
looked cleaner and nicer than normal wallpapers using an extracted scan. Also, I
wanted to become as well respected as some of the FAMOUS vector artists such as
Erdbeermilch, Sinever, Kitten, Chloe-chan, etc. Sure, my motives were partially
selfish, but now my mind set has changed. I just love vectoring. I really enjoy
seeing all of my hard work come to fruition.
oh,temari-chan is back
Well,I got a really good comp a year ago just for playing games,hehe...I'm not
sure if I even knew to use photoshop properly at that time...I really don't know
how I got to make walls and vector,really...it's probably because Yoru got me
hooked on it When did you guys started using photoshop and made your first wall?
Oh god, I just had an idea. Cybercookies for whoever does it first.

GET GOING, FELLOW SITH LORDS!
Wow, I missed a lot

My Latest Vector-Wall:
~Sleeping beauty~
I'm not quite sure this wall is dark enough for the group but still I wanted to share it with you guys^^
My Latest DARK-WALLIE:
Night of vampires
by the way we have new member Lady89
ok then september....hehe....does blood counts?
i mean on spooky wall?
i added lady89's works to gallery
Yeah, start it in the begining of September. That's be more than enough time.

I think September is better...two months are enough time to make an awesome wall...
maybe from august?
YAY! Yoru has given me praise! ^_________^
Okay, so now we need to figure out when we'll be starting the contest....
WOW I LIKE HALLOWEEN IDEA!
excellent job dev!
oh and yes we need a break, especially me...
we are all sith lords!
Exactly! Who ever heard of a Sith Lord going to the beach to play beach games!? It's unnatural!
Plus, I think it's too soon for another contest. Some people need a break to work on things they want to do that aren't related to contests.
I started on a spooky wallpaper a while ago, but I've put it on hold until Halloween. It's the main reason why i thought of this contest. :B
I agree with Dev...I started making a spooky wall just now...it will be perfect for Halloween mood

I made a dark wallie. It's emoish though, like me.
god it seems i missed so much! so sorry guys! ive been dead for a while, i mean i m not feeling well
